May 18 - May 22

    The last week of school has been awesome.  We had a luncheon at Cazadores which was really fun.  We also has the last day of school which we had the Honor Assembly and the  5th grade walk through the halls.  We also had readers come in and read to us all week.  One project we did this week was storytelling.  Another couple of projects we did were "Moving On" to middle school and doing a literacy circle project on a book we had read.  We also  did a kick-ball tournament called the "Toilet Bowl."  The last week of school was really fun!!  Also, have a great summer.

5th Grade Luncheon

Today was a fun and busy day.  We began with one of my former students, Christine, reading a story a book for Readers' Week.  She did a great job.  You can listen to some of it by clicking on this link.

We had another reader, a mom from Mrs. Minor's class and then it was on to the media center.  Next we heard from one of the librarians from Gritter's Library.  I hope everyone in our class will go to the Public Library and read this summer.  There are so many wonderful books.

At around 10:30 or so, the fifth grade began our walk to our luncheon at Casadora's  Restaurant.  Everyone had a great time.  The food was good and it was a great celebration for our 5th graders.  We heard many positive comments from our class.  Take a virtual tour of our luncheon:

                    

The Fifth Grade made a special memory today.  Only 3 more days to go and lots of activities still ahead.  We play in the kick-ball tournament , "The Toilet Bowl", on Thursday.  The championship game is Friday  along with Honors Day and the 5th grade final walk.  Where did the time go?  It seems like only yesterday we began the fifth grade!

Field Day

Friday, May 15th was Field Day.  It was very special this year because it was just for 5th graders.  We had lots of new field events and everyone had a great time.  Thank you, Coach Golden,for making this so special for our fifth graders. Below are a few pictures and a video:

Decade's Day 2009

What a great day!  I am so proud of my students.  They did a wonderful job with our Radio Show.  It was really good.  They all dressed as a person from the 1940's.  I was a little worried after our practice on Monday, but they really came through big time! 

The fifth grade traveled through five decades.  From the 1940's - the 1980's, all the programs were informative and entertaining.  We learned a lot just from the programs but then the students went on a scavenger hunt in each classroom.  Tonight they should be interviewing their parents or someone they know who lived in the 1990's.  I can't wait to discuss the 90's tomorrow.

April 20-24 and April 27-May 1

This week, in my opinion, wasn't't necessary the best week ever.  This week was all about CRCT.  Monday we had  a day off, but Tuesday through Friday we had CRCT testing for this week.

Tuesday - Reading
Wednesday - Language Arts
Thursday - Math
Friday - Science
