The big day finally arrived! We have been working for weeks on our Bridge Project. Our class would like to thank everyone that came and supported our companies and their bridges. Thanks to Kevin's mom for the special cake. Please go a virtual tour of Bridge Breaking 2007.

February 14th, 2007
Bridge Building continues. Most of the groups have finished their bridges and are working on other parts of the project. Today the students made invitation for our Bridge Breaking to be held on Friday, February 16 in the cafeteria at 8:30 AM. We hope some of the parents will be able to attend. If not we will take lots of picture and maybe video the breaking of each bridge. It has be an exciting project. Below are a few pictures from today's build:

Here are some reflections from today and yesterdays’ build:
Our group (Over the River Inc.) is behind in building our bridge because our design is very complicated. We only have half of our bridge done. We are still building the top half of our bridge. Today we started building the top triangles and the middle triangles. That’s all we built on our bridge today.

This is an awesome project. Mrs.Tidrick always plans fun activities. For my opinion I think my bridge is going to be the strongest bridge and I wonder how much money we are going to get. I love bridges now!!!

Here are some thoughts for a member of the Bridge Busters:
Today was very difficult. We have faced many problems and have become some what frustrated with our bridge; this project is harder than we thought. Today we figured out that our bride was lopsided and of course we had to fix that. Building bridges is hard but defiantly makes you think and is an excellent challenge!

Here are some thoughts from one of the members of Over The River Inc.:
Today we went to our groups and worked on our bridge project. What we did today is to start on what we did not finish yesterday. What I think of it is that the glue needs some time for it to dry. Sometimes the toothpicks we build fall and we have to put clothespins on it. Our group is trying really hard to make the actual bridge. I think we can do this bridge.

Here are some thoughts from one of the members of The Truss Company:
Today we had a sale on toothpicks, which was really great, so that my group could save about 40,000 dollars! It was a 2 for one sale; by an amount and get it doubled for the price of one. My group is called “The Truss Company.” Today we built the second half of our bridge. We were the only group who decided to build on our blueprint. It was somehow a little bit harder today than it was yesterday. I guess that it was because we were all working together more yesterday than today. Teamwork is an important part of building these bridges… It’s just too bad that not every group understands that! My group chose to build our bridge on the blueprint because it would be easier for us to work together: one could do the top, one the bottom, one the side, and one the other side. It seems like we are the only group that is progressing. Every other project looks almost the same as it did yesterday! I hope that the team won’t go over budget, which there is a good chance of.

Today our class began building the bridges that we have been researching and designing. Take a visual tour of our first day.
